I’m thinking about quitting sugar. I’ve recently downloaded and read Sarah Wilson’s “I Quit Sugar” eBook and, quite frankly, the benefits of removing sugar from my diet seem rather remarkable.
I love food, I LIVE for food. I’ve often said that if I was told I had 24 hours to live I wouldn’t say goodbye to anyone, I would just spend the entire time eating. That may be a teensy bit of an overstatement but I just love food! I love eating, I love cooking, I love food magazines, I love meal planning, even love grocery shopping!
Sugar is a pretty staple ingredient in my house. We aren’t exactly sugar nutters, we eat very little cakes and very few of our foods have added sugar, however the evils of sugar lurk in majority of the foods we consume. Fruit is where we consume most of our sugar, especially my beautiful baby boy.
I have two main problems with quitting sugar:
1. My beautiful baby boy loves, loves, LOVES fruit. Bananas are our “go to” food, and he just adores apples and pears. I have no idea what I could replace these with; and
2. It seems quite limiting. For a person who loves to cook and try new recipes I find it beyond irritating to have a restriction on the ingredients I am “allowed” to use. I’m not really a meat-and-three-veg kind of girl either.
So I’m on the fence…. on one hand, quitting sugar will do wonders for my body, brain and (I’m hoping) skin. On the other hand, I just don’t WANT to give up sugar, I like it too much and my son likes it too….
What to do, what to do.
